This self-guided challenge covers approx. 3 miles of trails around Turkey Peak as you complete a photo scavenger hunt. Pick up your prize at Headquarters when you finish!
Are you up for the Turkey Peak Turkey Trot Challenge?
Take a hike on approximately 3 miles of designated trails around Turkey Peak as you complete a photo scavenger hunt.
If you complete the trails and the photo scavenger hunt, come up to Headquarters (open 8:30 am - 4:30 pm) to pick up your prize from a Park Ranger!
Note: Due to high visitation during Thanksgiving week, we highly recommend making reservations in advance (Day Passes can be made 30 days out) to guarantee entry.
What to Expect:
- Pick up a highlighted map from Headquarters on starting 11/23, or download a copy (Downloadable Copy will be available soon).
- Pick up the Photo Scavenger Hunt Challenge instructions form Headquarters starting 11/23 (open 8:30am - 4:30 pm). This must be fully complete to earn your prize!
- An approximately 3-mile hike on moderate-level trails
- Turkey Peak Turkey Trot signs placed along the route to help guide you
- A photo scavenger hunt challenge to complete while on the trails
What to Bring:
- Water (minimum 32oz/1 Liter per person)
- Comfortable hiking shoes/boots
- Dress for the weather (cold, rain, sun, heat - it's Texas!)
- Camera or cell phone to take pictures with to complete the Photo Scavenger Hunt Challenge
This event is free with the purchase of a day pass or overnight camping permit. These can be reserved at TexasStateParks.ReserveAmerica.com. Adults 13+ are $8/person; children 12 and younger are free.
