Join a ranger as we catch the last rays of a dying day from the top of Enchanted Rock.
We'll explore the golden hour of photography and the transition time between day and night.
Please bring a flashlight or headlamp for the return walk.
Meet at the Gazebo at the beginning of the Summit Trail.
Time: About 2 hours.
Distance: 1.5 miles round trip.
Elevation gain: 425 feet.
Bring:
- Sturdy walking or hiking shoes
- Plenty of water (water will likely be unavailable on-site)
- Sunscreen
- Dress for the weather
- Flashlight or headlamp (do not rely on your cell phone flashlight).
IMPORTANT: Reservations are required to enter the state natural area Friday through Sunday, holidays or school breaks. You can check day pass availability and make reservations online at TexasStateParks.ReserveAmerica.com.
Entrance fees: $8/adult; children 12 and under are free; no additional fees for park programs. Entry is free with a Texas State Parks Pass.
All programs are weather dependent -- if it rains, the Summit Trail and all elevated trails and areas of the park are closed.
