EXPLORER CAMP WEEKLY THEMES (Ages 11-12)
ANIMAL ENTHUSIASTS (June 10-14, July 1-5, August 12-16)
We’ll turn over rocks, look high above in the treetops, and even observe beneath the water’s surface through a mask and snorkel in search of our favorite aquatic animals. Campers will learn what happens behind the scenes with our resident animals at the ANSC and visit amazing wildlife at Austin Zoo.
NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY (June 24-28, July 29-August 2)
Have you ever wanted to capture the beauty of a butterfly or the majesty of a tree? Campers can bring a digital camera or have a camera provided to practice taking pictures of natural wonders on field trips to Laguna Gloria and Reimers Ranch. Each photographer chooses two photos to be displayed.
OUTDOOR ACTION (June 17-21, July 15-19, July 22-26)
If you’re like us, you can’t get enough of the outdoors and you really just love to do it all. Combine all of the fun and adventure when we bike, fish, explore a cave, and shoot a bow and arrow during this camp. Campers must be able to ride a bike with their camp group for 3 miles without assistance.
WATER SCIENCE (July 8-12, August 5-9)
Explore the diverse bodies of water in central Texas from spring fed streams to dammed rivers. How do environmental conditions affect each aquatic ecosystem? See for yourself when we snorkel in San Marcos. Test your skills when you build a bamboo raft with friends on our campout at Turkey Bend Recreation Area.
